Der Zentrale Religionsunterricht!

We got new shlichim with us!
Ruth Storch, 23, is from Phoenix, Arizona. She recently graduated from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania with a degree in History. Ruth attended Jewish Day School in Arizona and Camp Ramah in California for ten summers. Ruth is especially interested in Holocaust studies and interned from the Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust in New York City as well as the Simon Wiesenthal Center in New York City. Ruth also studied German in college for two years and she is very excited to be in Berlin for the year.
Julie Edelman, born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, joins us from Washington, DC where she was working as an Outreach & Development Associate for a non-profit organization helping low-income women in the Washington, DC area. Julie graduated from Wesleyan University in Connecticut in 2007, where she studied Biology and Sociology. Between University and living in Washington, DC, she was a Jewish Service Corps Volunteer for the American Jewish-Joint Distribution Committee in Izmir, Turkey, helping to empower the Jewish community there with leadership and education. She worked at Camp Ramah in Wisconsin for 5 summers where she was Head of the Art Room, teaching painting, drawing, and ceramics. Coming here with no German language experience, she's working hard at learning it quickly! Julie is thrilled to be volunteering here in Berlin and is excited to turn 25 in the midst of such a warm and welcoming community!
Ben Sattin is a 22 year old recent graduate of Washington University in St. Louis where he studied economics. Ben was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, USA where he was an active member of his synagogue's youth group. He was president of his synagogue's chapter and was even awarded as the regional member of the year. In college, Ben served on the executive board of the Jewish Student Union and was a co-chairperson of the St. Louis Hillel phone-a-thon fundraiser. He helped raise over $70,000 in three years and was recognized with the St. Louis Hillel Service Award. Ben is very excited to be in Germany and looks forward to being a part of your community.
